I doubt this is a good idea.

Advising people to leave early or stay and defend looks like bad advice now as many stayers realised too late that there was no real way to defend and either died at their house or leaving late and panicked.

The South Australians seem to have had some success targeting known or suspected arsonists

One couple survived in a bunker. It should not cost too much to dig a fairly small hole, line it with cinder blocks and throw some dirt on some corrugated iron on the top.. You only need an hour down there to survive.

No doubt the Royal Commission will sift through the factors that made this so bad and come up with some ideas.

Re: Help

Hands off Reap, because Academia via the Fairfax Press and one Freya Matthews from the Latrobe Philosophy Department ,has said the scientist warned us and Climate Change is the cause of the Fires in Victoria. So all the cigarette smokers dont have to look so guilty, the firebugs being closed in on by Police no worries, the few fire chiefs themselves so far who have doubted their own directions are having a massage, the house and landowners are simply not even considering their own mistakes. The Insurance companies are hoping Freya's scientists are all God- fearing folk like Bob Brown, thus God done it through Climate Change and us heathens who are dependent on carbon dioxide emission economies. Thus no worries for Insurance and Assurance Policies. The Government stimulus package then is a response to an Emergency , so Sheehan gets it up the nose with a rubber hose, and Saint Kevin Rudd appeals to all the Worldly Christian financiers who still have a cracker. There is only one thing wrong with this. The Australian Conservation Foundation has also put out a release this happens around every ten years, and the conservationists have some difficulty over a long time in what species are allowed to survive for economic reasons.I suppose we still need the Freya's so the Reap's can be wholeheartedly condemned, and she being Australia's over-riding expert on understanding Australian experts still willing to participate with the UNO body on the rising temperature.Whereas my daily site visits,to what Jeremy thinks I promote tell me something different, and so does the energy site KeeleyNet.Com trusted site as it is,as he tries to survive himself in Mexico.I am glad I have never felt superior to the problems of Mexicans, and those bloody large Sombrero Hats, often worn by Gay persons are almost ideal for Victorians,so you dont need to squint behind sunglasses,if the Freya person has facial characteristics like you.For God works in wondrous ways. And has never listened to the song Dark Side of the Moon.

Re: Help

Wilson Tuckey has his priorities right- he's already blaming 'greenies' for the fires.

Re: Help

Josh - are you really as stupid as that comment makes you sound?

And where did you get the figure of $6bn from out of interest? 1st time I've heard it.

I'm sure we can find much better places to source the rebuilding money from - like the Govts net filter!

Re: Help

Apart from making a donation I note that we waste an estimated AUD$6billion each year on multiculturalism. Might it be better if we suspend the English language lessons and the poncing about in national costumes by the various ethnic groups and spend that money on rebuilding the lives of people who have lost so much in these horrendous fires?

Re: Help

I felt Turnbull used his name and his statements, about fireys in a very supportive way,and maybe he himself is a much deeper human being, than I have suspected.I don't know about the firey's health after this though, lungs and mental state.Perhaps some University somewhere should investigate decompression chambers for firefighters to free them up a bit from any lungshit hanging on.And all fire engines should have negative ion generators in them as advertised in the Queensland Magazine Nexus ,Duncan Rhoades Editor. They might have some degree of toxicity in around their eyes, cold water hand towels or flannels over the eyes when at rest horizontally. And dont be surprised,if not shocked, after the fires another wave of disaster occurs, cannot name it yet, maybe in deep winter and the bloody opposite..big freeze or infrastructure collapse. After all Victorians have seen the rail shrinkage, perhaps metal fatigue will visit in very unexciting ways.I will carry that cross as burden ,if my premonition proves to show its ugly head.

Re: Help

PKD - Not just the poms.
